To ease into the paddling season, sometimes a short, simple paddle is just the thing to prime your muscles for the warmer months ahead. Moose Lake in Waukesha County Wisconsin offers an enjoyable paddle around a small lake, full of interesting lake houses and gardens. According to the DNR website, Moose Lake near the town of Nashotah is smaller in size at only 83 acres, but reaches depths of up to 61 feet deep in certain areas. The lake has a boat landing for easy kayak launching, and a parking lot with a few parking spaces available. To find the lake, first take County Road C north from the highway.
The launch entrance is a quick right before reaching Peninsula Dr. The water is calm and peaceful, and you might even get a friendly wave from a lakefront neighbor or two, prepping their yards and boathouses for the season.
We recommend making a stop at Stone Bank Farm Market before the paddle to pick up some local healthy items for a picnic at sea, or afterwards for a bit of grocery shipping. Enjoy exploring Moose Lake, and as always, stay safe and have fun!
